Young Thinkers of Arkansas

Pro bono work has always been a mainstay of the ad business. An opportunity to help organizations that might not have the budget to hire a firm to handle their brand, marketing and more. But these things are vitally important, if not more so than other companies, for a non-profit in their pursuits to help those they wish to care for or support. As a member of ASF, the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers, it was an easy decision when they came to me to help them with an idea that would help children of freethinkers or secular families in Arkansas.

VBS’s, or vacation bible schools, are prolific throughout the South, and the country, but there are very few secular counterparts. The idea of a secular camp or extra-curricular school for them intrigued me.

I joined the exploratory committee first, then once we established the outline of the need, we embarked on delegating specialties. Since mine is branding, well, thats what I did.

I helped them come up with the name, Young Thinkers of Arkansas, based on what I consider the best foot forward for an organization is to not stray too far from your original base. It fits in nicely with the freethinker concept but also stands as a separate entity. Having an overall name for the organization also offers the opportunity to create and name events separately, branding each of them and marketing them as a new product or offering. Further extending the flexibility and reach of the base organization.

SEO, social media, logos, signage, photography, marketing materials, etc. All of this was created to further the goal of promoting this unique opportunity to teach children in Arkansas about how to use critical thinking skills as it relates to everyday life, whether it’s science, math or social justice.

I’m proud of the work I’ve done to help get this off the ground and will continue to help them with this brand as it grows over time.
